The Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM) represents more than 107,000 workers in the United States and Canada. BCTGM members help produce some of the most iconic brands in North American marketing history, including Oreo and Chips Ahoy cookies, Saltine crackers, Kellogg and General Mills cereals, Marlboro cigarettes, Milkbone dog biscuits, See’s Chocolate and more.
The Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union (B&C) was one of the pioneers of the American labor movement, organizing in 1886. The Tobacco Workers International Union was founded in 1895 and merged with the B&C in 1978. The American Federation of Grain Millers also dates back to the late 1800’s and merged with the Bakery, Confectionery & Tobacco Workers (BC&T) in 1999. For 120 years, workers have found a voice in the workplace through the BCTGM.
The primary goal of the BCTGM has not changed in 120 years – to bring economic justice in the workplace to all workers within our jurisdiction and social justice to all workers throughout the United States and Canada.
